Our natural teeth have grooves on chewing surfaces. Sometimes these grooves become deep and are a constant source of food lodgement this can lead to cavities. If however we seal these deepened grooves with a special material we can prevent progress of cavities. It is an excellent cavities prevention program and very effective in childer and young adults
If however caries have already progressed the decayed and infected part of tooth can be removed and filled with tooth colored material. This can be carried out as a single appointment procedure. If caries is close to pulp then Root Canal Treatment can be undertaken
Inside the hard tooth structure, is a soft pulp which has nerves. When caries reachs close to pulp one can have a severe pain. Root Canal Treatment becomes mandatory and helps in relieving pain. Can be done as a single step procedure if pulp is non-infected. However, may need three to four visits if infected.
Root Canal treated tooth should preferably recieve a crown once a RCT is complete. This protects it from fracture.
